Stripped rear wheel stud on a 240 sedan 200

Hello all, I went to remove the rear wheel on my 87 240 sedan, and apparently the millennial age worker at Discount Tire cross treaded the lug nut when he air ratcheted them on. Anyway, I bought a new stud from IPD and am wondering how difficult it would be to replace. The shop manual is no help on this one. I remember my late Father having to do the same thing, on the same car, but on the other side many years ago. I was headed to work that day so I didn't get the watch the show. Any help would be appreciated :)

you can replace it doing this:

1. remove tire
2. remove caliper and hang it attached to line out of the way
3. remove rotor
4. hammer out the old stud
5. press in finger tight the new stud
6. then use a couple three washers large enough to easily clear the stud and thread on the lug nut and tighten like hell until the new stud seats

OR

you can drive the car as it IS with 4 instead of 5 studs for the next 25 years without ever having to worry about the stability of the wheel or car

your choice

x2

I would also check the lug nuts on the rest of the wheels to Make sure they will come off.
Better to find out now and not on the side of the road in the cold and snow.

I did not even follow all the step but I can say, universal ford adjustment tool (BFH...Google it) is you friend as is moderate aim.

Discount Tire in Washington state did the same to me.

Stripped three of five lug studs on one wheel.

Most of the lug bolts all look bent, where they were square before.

If you must have tire / wheel work done, ask them to remove and reinstall the lugs by hand.

NO impact wrench!

cheers,
