Fault Code 1-2-2 900 1994

My Cruise Control suddenly stopped working. All vacuum lines are tight and hold and fuses intact.
As part of my diagnostic check, I read codes from the OBD I terminals.
I got a 1-2-2 code from the "B" side on Socket #2. None of my reference material shows what a 1-2-2 code is except for Regina systems, which I don't have.
Two questions:
1) What may be the Cruise Control issue?
2) What is a 1-2-2 code mean?

Thanks everyone!

I've seen a couple similar reports and had one myself. One source of the problem can be a failing instrument panel flex circuit connector on the back. There is a workaround reported at brickboard perhaps ten months ago in which you solder a jumper wire around the gap. I don't have the reference here but in my case,it was the fix after I eliminated all.other potential fixes. BTW, I am convinced these flex panels will be the death of the 740/940/960 series cars.

I've replaced everything with good working parts in the system except the relay module on the left kick panel.
Should I replace that too or is there further diagnostic function to perform.

I like the bulb failure relay idea, but all lights are working and no bulb failure light has activated. Last time a bulb failure light repeatedly came on was when I replaced that module in the fuse/relay area.

Let me know. Thanks everyone!

John

Fault Code 1-2-2 900 1994

Dear 94 945T,

Hope you're well. The 1-2-2 code from OBD Socket B-2 means: (a) vehicle speed has not exceeded 35Km/H (20 miles/hour) or (b) that the cruise control system has not received a speed signal. Source: Volvo pocket data booklet - Cars: 700, 850, 900 (1991-1996); Diagnostic Trouble Codes, p. 20.

Possible causes: (a) the speedometer is not working properly or at all or (b) the bulb burn-out relay has failed. This relay is orange, cylindrical, and is located on the main relay panel (behind the front center console's ashtray). When the bulb burn-out relay fails, it de-activates the cruise control. Volvo's engineers may have used this method - causing the cruise control to stop working - to alert the driver to the bulb burn-out relay's failure.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

The 122 code will always be there when you read it UNLESS you drive the car to exceed the speed, and do NOT switch off the engine, read the code, if no problems the 122 code will not show up. shut it down and check again, it will be there. Have you had a look at the vacuum diaphragm at the throttle spindle?
