My car bucks due to a faulty Throttle Valve Switch when it's in the midrange transitioning between coasting and accelerating. It is fine as long as I am cruising steady or accelerating. Is removing it as simple as removing the two screws and pulling it out? I tried that but it wouldn't budge, like there is something else holding it in place. I have been advised that it might just need internal cleaning of the contacts but don't know how to get inside of it. I have also been told that that part is no longer available form parts suppliers. If that isn't the case, does anyone know of a source for replacement? Thanks,

undo the 2 screws it slides of its centre pin might ned lubricant. You can get a new printed board which I have purchased and it works well. If you are interested post back and will send details of supplier

Inspect the wires at the throttle switch first. They sometimes come loose from the plastic harness plug or have frayed wires.

You don't have to remove the throttle switch to clean it, although it is removable.

You do have to remove the plastic cover.

If it is the later style, the plastic cover is held on by fragile plastic tabs that are part of the plastic cover, so flex with care. Also make sure not to lose any of the little rubber bumpers that are inside the plastic cover mounted in each corner. They usually stay in place, but occasionally fall out or get stuck to the corners of the metal backing plate.

Removing the cover exposes the PC board and I suggest using a clean natural rubber eraser over the path of moving contacts.

Then wipe with a clean cloth. It is okay to test with the cover removed.

It sometimes takes 2 or 3 attempts to get it clean.

If cleaning doesn't solve the problem, I have NOS (new old stock) throttle switches or I have replacement PC boards if you have the later style of switch.

Your natural rubber erase suggestion did the trick. I carefully ran the eraser over the copper embedded tracks and then followed up with a spray of electronic cleaner. No more bucking or hesitating! It now revs smoothly thru the entire range. A simple no cost remedy - Great!

I do actually have a NOS throttle switch for a ridiculously high price, but I have seen them sell for more on ebay.

There is one on ebay right now for more than my asking price.
