I am going to replace my tailgate hinges to try and get the top of the tailgate to align properly with the roof line and was wondering if I could use the chrome hinges from an earlier year. I like the chrome look better (I am making other mods in preparation for a paint job to mimic the earlier years) AND the chrome ones are about $50. less per pair for some reason!!

    I believe so. The tailgate opening is all the same, as far as I know. I put a 1992 tailgate on my '85 turbo wagon, and it bolted in with no issues.

      Thanks again, Benski. With your nudge, I went ahead and got the new hinges and sprung for new wiring harnesses too. (I had previously patched them, but never redid the ground)
