Radio technology 120-130

A friend of mine has a 122 2 door with a stock radio. Attached to the bottom of the A/C that hangs from the dash is a little gadget that enables the AM radio to become an FM tuner. Has anyone ever seen one? What is it?

Just installed the RediRad in my 122 last month. Works great, i can play my vintage music playlists on my iPod or any device with a 1/8" stereo headphone jack through the AM radio for that smooth old sound. NO financial interest, just a satisfied customer https://rediscoveradio.com/

I would imagine that in addition to playlists you can also play just about any radio station via apps like TuneIn, etc, providing your cell phone reception is good enough...

What about stereo though? is there any way to wire in a pair of speakers and achieve stereo?

Yes, I remember having something like that many years ago, before AM/FM radios were standard. As I recall, it hooked into the antenna cable.

Something like this:

Had one in high school, radio museum. I love this! Guess I might as well forget picking one up at Best Buy. I'll check out the link see what's there. Thanks

It's called an FM Converter. It is basically an FM Tuner box that converts the AM chassis to an FM Radio...had one on my 1966 SAAB 96 when I was in High School.
