Another "Fan working with engine off' problem. S90-V90

Our S 90 radiator fan keeps working (and drains battery) with engine off.
When I pull each of the 3 relay connectors the fan shuts off. Also presenting with poor starting.
Otherwise the car runs good.
Ordered a new ECT sensor.
The AC has only one (pressure sensor?) on the evaporator and pulling that one leaves the fan on.
Will buy a code reader today .
Hope the ECT will fix it. Relay seems good.
Any input of y'all greatly appreciated.

BTW pulling the thermostat housing gives you enough room to get to the sensor? Power steering pump seems to be in the way.

Another "Fan working with engine off' problem. S90-V90

2 months later and the problen seems to have returned. Surely I do not have another CTS failure after the new one fixed the problem?
    Any suggestions?

Another "Fan working with engine off' problem. S90-V90

I had a problem last year where the cooling fan on my '96 960 would run after shutting off the car. With advise from Dan it was the coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing. The fan would shut off after approx. 8-10 minutes. And the car also ran terribly after warm up due to the failed temp sensor. You indicate your car is running good though at this time.

This problem came about suddenly after an intake gasket replacement. Confusing the issue. I don't remember what code was thrown up. Just my experience with the failed temp sensor.

Edit: You will need the thermostat housing to head gasket and now would be a good time to replace the thermostat as well. And yes, the power steering pump needs to be unbolted and moved a little to gain access to the thermostat housing. Be very careful with the torx bolts holding the thermostat cover. They can be stubborn and strip out.

      Thanks so much.
It was the coolant sensor. Was able to remove housing without moving pump out of the way , and non of the bolts were overtightened in any way!
      Thanks again!!!
