240 central locking switch 200 1992

Hello Everyone,
I had to tighten up the drivers side door handle on my 1992 240 and discovered the central locking switch to be falling apart which explained the erratic locking symptoms that occurred recently. Does anyone know where to get a new one? Any and all help would be appreciated. Thank you. Joe

I'm having the same issues. I pulled the switch out and apart from the degraded insulation, I can't seem to find anything else wrong. The relay behind the dash somewhere is engaging from either position..I can hear it. Maybe the collar is indexed wrong like someone said? Or the relay is malfunctioning and not fully engaging? Also the door plunger switch activates said relay as well from both positions. What did you discover on yours? My 244 is a 1982 model for reference.

If you are referring to the wiring insulation falling apart at the collar, you can fix that with liquid insulation, available at Home Depot and others. If the collar itself is broken, which is rare, junkyard item. I don't believe it can still be purchased new, but it would be a dealer only item I'm sure.

Pay very close attention to the "follower" that slides inside the collar. It must be indexed to the lock cylinder.
