Homebrew trailing arm bushing press tool 1974 164E

Has anyone used or adapted the homebrew tool found here...

http://www-ese.fnal.gov/People/wilcer/volvo_trailing_arm_bushing_tool.htm

for their 164?

I think it might work for later 164 with the 240 rear but I wonder if anyone has used it for their earlier 1 series or 122, 1800 etc.

Thanks

A tool like that should work for a late 164 rear since it's the same as a 240/260 TAB.
I've used a similar home made tool (I didn't make it) on a 144 for the kidney shaped TAB's. Using a threaded rod with a cup-shaped pipe caps with a hole drilled through and some nuts and washers work. The bushing will squirm around, and should do that as you muscle the bushing in. Don't try and make them go in straight, but angle and slide them in. Just lube-up the new bushing with silicone grease before going in, then wash with IPA afterwards to get rid of the grease.
