Wagon: having trouble letting rear seat down 200 1993

Hello all..
93' 240 wagon: Having trouble getting the rear seat to fold down because I can't get the two latches under the seat (near the floor board) to let go when I'm lifting up on the disengagement latches. Do you know any tricks? The brass looking bars won't slide back far enough to disengage from the floor mounted hooks. Are there any magic points on the seat to pull up on to help the bars slide back enough to disengage from the floor mounted hooks? Does anyone have a picture of the underside of the seat that shows how the latching assembly is made? Do you know any tricks? (The seat back folds down, but the seat won't slide forward so that the whole thing is flush with the cargo floor.)
Thanks,
Cabbie

The seat bottom flips up, the rear part rotating towards the front of the car. Push down (IIRC) on the release, flip up - takes about four seconds.

If you were sitting in the back seat, these two releases would be down under the seat where your ankles are. Additionally, you need both latches to release (push down) in order to flip up the seat, and if one latch is grumpy and stuck, it can take some jiggling to get it to release.
