Hello All,
With all the hard work and money I've been putting into my PV it only seems right to put some attention into the underside of my car, to protect it from the tin worm.
Fortunately, the frame is in excellent shape. The floors are good, there are areas where I can see some repairs via bondo. I would say that I have nothing but surface rust on the underbelly of my car, and I wish to keep it from advancing.
What do you all recommend for rust treatment? I've read about POR but it's expensive and hard to apply properly. How about Eastwood rust "encapsulation" spray - does it really work? Other options?

    For what its worth;-- I've used POR 15 in the past, and also some stuff called "cold galvanizing compound" (available in spray cans & brush-on). I saw something on Youtube called "Rust Doctor" that looks great, might try it on my next project. If anyone out there has used it, I'd like to get your opinion.

    I can see why it's not widely available here: it's biodegradable, safe, and would put the rustproofers out of business.

      The link to the 544 restoration and the guy who used Fertan is not me, but one of the regulars on here. I've seen him post before--Bernard is his name. You'd be wise to seek him out for some advice and tips.

      Thank you very much for that link; I am reading through the whole post now. I am going to check out Fertan: the product I needed but never heard about.

      Other than the outside body, do you use Rustoleum on everything else? Do you brush it on or spray it? My issue is my car is grey-beige, so not exactly a rustoleum color. Maybe I can try mixing my own?
