Where does this connect? Random wire after replacing heater hoses 200

I've got a 1985 240, with the B230, I've replaced all of the coolant hoses in the engine bay, and after getting the heater hoses replaced, I have a random connector that must have pulled out from my arms tugging on a cable.

What does it connect to? anything?

It comes out of the oval/circular thing on the firewall.

Like the extra fuel pump relay connector plug under the cluster on the cars around '83. Appendages for other applications of the harness, like turbo cars.

Found the same one you did yesterday on our '85 wagon. It has a neat, plastic cap glued over the end with RTV. Someone was OCD in the car's past.

We have to assume that about a million years from now, these connectors will have either been eliminated by evolution or....

Oh, sorry. Cars, we are talking about cars.

Pretty sure that wasn't connected. However, if you had a B21ft instead of a B230 in your 85, it would have plugged into a solenoid vacuum valve mounted on the firewall to help the idle when the AC clutch pulled in. You can tell it wasn't connected by the dirt.

I have that on my 88, its not connected and I always wondered what it was.

I always thought of it as an appendix. No one knows what it's for it will work without it.

Thanks Art.
