How to Replace Wheel Stud on 240 with ABS? 200

Was wondering how to replace a wheel stud on a 240 with ABS? ABS 240's have an extra gizmo on the back side of the wheel hub that gets in the way of inserting new studs. I ended up forcing it through with a hammer and goofed up a few of the threads, but it worked ok after I cleaned up the threads some.

Thanks,
13

Most Volvo techs grind one side of the stud down a bit.

Does this method applies same to 240 witout ABS? How long will it take to replace all studs? I am not mechanically inclined and plan to have the general mechanic to do it. Any other special tricks that one has to be aware of? How complicated is this task? Thank you.

Grind the head of the stud down a bit on one corner and it should slide in. That's the easiest way I've found.

Great idea. I wish I had thought of that!!!!
Sometimes an easy solution is right there in front of me and I don't even see it!!!!
Well, next time I know what to do. Haha.

I have a 245 with ABS and they come out without grinding. There's a hole behind the hub (that holds the studs). Line up a stud with the hold and hammer it with a heavy hammer. There's just enough room for the stud to come out. I replaced all mine that way.
