Don't want to break it, gotta fix stuck wiper spindle. It's raining! 700 1990

1990 745, driver side wiper spindle was locked tight. All other parts of linkage and the motor worked fine, but needed a thorough cleaning of leaves, seeds and a mouse nest. The thin plastic cap had split and was letting water enter the barrel, maybe got past the O-ring. I removed the linkage from the car, and I've removed the cracked plastic wrapper, the circlip, washer, and O-ring at the top of the pot metal/alloy barrel/bushing. This has allowed me flood into it w WD-40, making rotating the shaft steadily easier. I applied some torch heat, then more WD40, then pushing back and forth on the 2" long metal arm attached to the bottom of the spindle/shaft. Now it rotates smoothly but still much stiffer than the very slick spindle on passenger side. I've tried to tap, (then hammer harder) the spindle out of its barrel. It has moved down 1/16". I want to clean all the crud and dried grease out, then reassemble w clean grease before I reinstall the whole setup so I won't have to do it again. Is there something else locking the shaft inside the barrel?? that I would break if I hammer harder? Maybe use a tie rod remover fork or very small wedge from the bottom? I'm gonna post this as a new thread because I searched FAQ and didn't find an answer.

ANSWER Don't want to break it, gotta fix stuck wiper spindle. It's raining! 700 1990

After trouble shooting all the electric and linkage poss probs, I did find a similar condition and fix in Art Benstein's good website flametrap. com ? Grease in barrels was dry and solidified, binding the spindles.
The 740 barrels are diff from 240 in that they have a narrower bushing inside at top & bottom of each tube, removable and need cleaning too, then fill tube w grease. Removal of shaft was difficult - stuck so tight and dry - overnight soaking and many saturating sprays w WD-40. I put small amount of torch heat to them once WD -40 was soaking in.
I cleaned out lots of seeds and a mouse nest under the cowl, cleaned the fan impellers too. Repositioned both plastic water shields and glued in place w acrylic caulk the shield over the vent fan intake. Let it set up and adhere before re-installing the cowl, too easy to knock the plastic shield away from its attachment to the firewall (thus letting rain water into fan.)
Wipers are smooth and fast now! Total time c. 4 hrs. Basic wrenches and sockets, powerful wet/dry vac, compressor w blower tip, small propane torch. I buy gallon cans of WD-40 and refill handpump spray bottles.
