Battery Drain 240 200

I have narrowed down the battery drain to fuse # 8. From there, I unplugged the radio and power antenna but, my test light still shows a power drain. I could not find a time delay relay for my interior light near the brake pedal or anywhere so I could not test for a problem with the interior light other than to unplug it. Unplugging it did not stop the drain. I have also tried unplugging the clock and my test light still shows a power drain.

Any suggestions on the best and maybe easiest way to test the central lock system for a potential problem as well is there another way to test the interior light?

One of my associated problems other than the battery drain is that now, when I leave the # 8 fuse out, as I am driving along, the door chines keep going.

    What year?

"Any suggestions on the best and maybe easiest way to test the central lock system for a potential problem as well is there another way to test the interior light? "

Disconnect the central locking above your knee, the plug with the red, green, and black wires in it. Post a year, and we can be more specific.

Not finding a delay relay has been the experience of others, when it does indeed exist and drains batteries. It hides up there... Again, post what year your 240 is...

Hey Art, I located the connector for the central locking system and disconnected it. The test light showed no power draw but, when I put the #8 fuse back in it gives a little spark. Is it normal for this circuit to always be hot in this way.

I think I'd need a bit more detail to answer your question properly. Leave nothing to assumption. I could guess the spark you see is normal and a result of the initial charging of capacitors in the radio and clock. Google "dv/dt" if you're really interested.

A man rushed into a busy doctor's office and shouted, "Doctor! I think I'm shrinking!" The doctor calmly responded, "Now, settle down. You'll just have to be a little patient."

The door chiming is a little known feature with most volvos. If your dome light is burnt out or the fuse is bad. Volvo figured that instead of finding out these went bad at night when you need them. They added the chime to let you know during the daytime so you can fix it. I would have to see a diagram of everything that routes through fuse #8 to venture a guess. You didn't give the year but some vehicles you have to close all the doors and wait some time so features "go to sleep" before measuring voltage drain.
