Major dash malfunction 700 1987

Hi folks,

It's been a while since I've posted! The Volvo has been running fine, no big issues to speak of.

This morning, I put in the key, heard the normal chime, and turned to KP2 and looked at the dash. I saw only the OD arrow, the seat belt light, and the temp gauge went up to 10 o'clock. All other gauges were dead. I started the car. No change.

I hit the OD button on my shifter (AW70L tranny). The dash started functioning normally.

Please help me figure out what happened!

Thanks,

Ari

Your circuit board behind the instrument panel needs to be resoldered/refloated. It's covered well in the FAQs

Was it still normal after pressing the OD button again, just the arrow toggling on and off?

(In the last year my OD arrow/button has became intermittent and finally quit. I believe it's probably a broken wire at the connector below the shifter, but I'm not anxious to dig into it. At the very end, before the arrow completely stopped functioning, it still worked in the Park position, so that's why I think it's a broken wire.)
