If you can send me, or post a working email address, I can send you the PV444 parts book in pdf form. It's dated 1961. I think your car is a '63 but the door internals and general layout is the same I believe.

I can send a copy to you Eric if you wish.

Also, Greenbooks here. Large files! Click on the red description above each section, not on the big green "Download" panel.

544 Green Book: Door Repair 444-544

I don't think anyone has any of the PV repair manuals online, although there is PV club in Europe that might, but you have to become a member to access them.

I do have a fairly complete green book manual set for a 444 and another for a 544. I say mostly complete as Volvo never sold a complete set, but rather sold all the available sections of the manuals separately and most people did not buy all of them. For instance, I have rarely seen a "Specifications" green book manual in any of the sets I have for any of the early styles of Volvos.

The doors are pretty basic, but there are a few hints I can supply that might help as long as someone in the past hasn't modified something(s).

The inner door release handle and the window winder handle are retained by a small pin so to remove them you need to push the plastic bezel in far enough to expose the holes so you can push the pin out for each handle.

The outer door handle is retained by a cotter pin that you access through a hole in the side of the door which is covered by the door seal.

The door lock cylinder is retained by a machine screw that you also access through a hole in the side of the door which is covered by the door seal.

If you are planning on removing the door latch/lock mechanism inside the door, the outer door handle and lock cylinder have to be removed first and then you must remove the inner window guide channel at the rear of the door which is held to the inside of the door with 2 machine screws.

Some if not all of the machine threads inside the door are METRIC, so be careful if you are replacing any of the hardware.

Let me know if you run into problems.

P.S. I usually have most of the door parts and seals in stock if you need something.
