Overdrive not working, pressing overdrive button the light goes on or off correctly but does not engage. Did check fuse, which is intact. Ideas? Thanks.

A while back my overdrive was acting up. I installed a new one and since then no more problems That was over 10 years ago. I bet if you change yours for a new one , your issue will be solved.

Yea. I had to replace my solenoid. It was a little bit of a pain to get to. But a cheap fix.. That was 8 years ago. It looked like a rock had hit it or something.

Not sure what tranny you have. On the manuals, turn the key on but don't start the car. Put it in 4th, press the OD button you should see the light and hear the relay click

With the key on, when pressing the button, the light went on and I heard the relay click. I guess that's bad, sounds like tranny? Wiring?

At the top of the page there is a small dropdown menu; it's hard to see with the ads up there but it's there. In that menu is a 'FAQ'. In that, is a lot of info. This is one part of that info.

Suggest you also check or replace the relay located behind the ashtray above fuses.

Check the overdrive relay, which I believe is located behind/near the fuses. On my 240 it was a white unit, probably the same for the 740. See the FAQ 700/900 section on this forum.
