Looking for a fuel pressure regulator; this car has a much smaller one than I am familiar with. 700 1991

1991 745 Rex Regina

I would like to replace what would appear to be the original fuel pressure regulator on this 1991 745.

It is not the typical Bosch 280 160 294 and it is significantly smaller than that unit. It would seem that the sites I have checked call for the more familiar (larger) unit.

Anybody have a part number for the smaller one?

Thanks, Randy

Hi Randy - The 2001 QRPC (page 45) has 6842410 for the Regina FPR.

I'm guessing that Bosch parts were banned, hence the different ignition coil etc.
I think that smaller FPR is made by VDO, if recall my 940 one correctly.
As others have said, the Bosch unit also works (10$ more at Tasca).

Thanks everybody for the information.

This 745 (125K) has had great regular maintenance as well as impressive preventative measures (records came with it) so I was surprised to find the original FPR still in service. I will feel more comfortable with a new regulator in place and the original in the "travel box" each of our Volvos carry.

Randy

Ive got a write up on the FRP for Regina. you can use the Bosch 3.0 Bar and it works just fine and can be found for half the price or in many junk yards cheap. P/N in in the FAQ

Hey Randy,

Methinks you can replace it with one of your more familiar ones despite the difference in appearance. At least, that is what I've read, what seems like more than once, here on this list. Saves you money too, if you must buy new.
