Air Mass Meter Chart? 200

So, I'm rummaging through a box of used AMMs at the local euro-boneyard the other day, thinking that it might be nice to have a spare in the garage (or in the car-just because). Now I'm noticing that, while they all look fairly similar, they have different part ending numbers. I saw the following, then gave up:

-001
-002
-007
-016
-101
-102

I'm assuming that they're not interchangeable, but, just for my own knowledge, would like to know if there's a chart anywhere that links the numbers to which cars and years. I'm to understand that the different years take different numbers. I also recall that auto and manual trans-equipped cars do not share the same AMM. So much to think about! Any kind of a schedule to link them all up? Or, perhaps one of the Members here have a quick tutorial. Just curious.

Thanks!
B

    Uncle Bradley,

Please see Uncle Bill's Truly Use chart about Bosch LH injection system versions, crossed with ECU and AMM (or MAF) Bosch PNs.

    http://www.nuceng.ca/bill/volvo/database/ecu.htm

I just wish Uncle Bill would add the Bosch EZK version by EXK controller box version, power stage version, ignition coil, and so forth.

    Hope that helps you.

Teh Bosch LH-Jetronic 3.1 IS rock and or roll.

    cheers,

    V. B. MacDuff.

Bosch LH-Jetronic 3.1: Low emission if in good tune, and quite a throttle response through the RPM range even with they boorish stock North American cams. (Slap a K-cam on that B23/B230 puppy and you're good to go, with great fuel economy!). I forget the EZK version by ECU number. Uncle Bill?

Here's a checklist of encompassing numbers as taken from the IPD website. This was taken from an old IPD newsletters topic on 240 AMM numbers and the newsletter is buried up on the website.

      Link: http://www.ipdusa.com/techtips/10087/how-can-i-tell-which-version-of-bosch-lh-fuel-injection-is-on-my-volvo-240

Also, on both the IPD and FCP Groton websites, under the respective AMM for the particular years, they will list all the old and new numbers under "OEM" numbers. One puts the latest number first, the other last.

Additionally, under that great previous post on the AMM section of the 700/900 FAQ, there is a block of reman companies listed about halfway down that page. That's just what I have been looking for as I have been in the process of putting together my own personal reman list these days. Here's one interesting company from that list. It's a company based in Florida and they apparently rebuild everything from climate control units to air mass meters on European cars.

"AMMs are originally numbered 0 280 212 nnn.
In your case it would be 0 280 212 001.

Later this was changed to an "Exchange" number such as "AMSnnnX".
For example AMS002X for '83 and '84 240s, and AMX007X for later 240s as well as 740 B230F and turbo variants through 1989."

On the message from Lucid above, note that the later move to "AMS" or "AMX" numeration apparently means that the unit has been rebuilt. This is particularly is useful if you see such AMM numbering at the PNP, as you'll know the unit has already been rebuilt once. I believe a similar exchanged/rebuilt numeric system is in use with rebuilt alternators.

To clarify that later system, "AMS002X" above translates to "Air Mass Sensor", "002", "eXchanged" (or "R" for "rebuilt" - AMS002R).

See the present day FCP AMM page below for a modern day illustration.

        Link: http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-mass-air-flow-sensor-240-740-760-780-940

Finally, the perceived most latest up-to-date version of the 240 series AMM "0280212016" has itself been updated to "0986280101".

Great chart - just need the '90-93 240 added to the 016 section. Also on that particular section, 101 was the predecessor to the modern 016.

Additionally, on the '90-93 manual (LH 3.1), the last three numbers on that one was 001. The connecting pin protrudes and is very different than typical Bosch AMM connections, so it tends to stick out at the PNP.

Finally on the '85-89 LH 2.2, the predecessor to the above 007 code was 102.

Can we get confirmation on the preceding digits for the 001 AMM? My 82' with Jetronic LH 1.0 has an AMM ending in 001 also, so it must be different than those for 90-93'

I was trying to clarify for the alternate prefix to avoid confusion by only looking at the last three digits of the part number. Obviously a LH3.1 AMM isn't the same as the LH1.0 AMM but they ended in the same last three digits (001).

I did some research on a auto parts site and it looks like the AMMs for LH3.1 can either be:
            0280 212 016
            0280 217 001

Can anyone confirm the 0280 217 prefix?
