1985 Volvo 240 radio removal 200 1985

I can't get the radio on my '85 240 to side out. I have the factory install instructions and have removed the two screws that hold the radio in. I pulled and pried on the radio but it won't budge. Is there anything else holding it?

Hi Philver

You need to remove the glove compartment. There is a metal bracket that holds the radio on the back/side. There is a bolt/screw. Good luck.

it is right behind the center of the radio. It may be a screw or just locked into a notch in the back center.

In my 92 240, the replaced factory radio has a piece sheet .metal which has a tab locking the radio into a bracket on the firewall right under the top of the dash. Took me a long time to fork out that the bottom half of tab needs to be bent upwards in order that it will slide through the horizontal slot in the bracket, because you can't see it, even with inspection mirror.
Definitely have to remove glove box in order to reach behind.
