83 240 running poorly 200

my first post here, guys. recently acquired 244, 93,000 miles, manual tranny, very original car. bogs down when trying to accelerate after changing gears. I have just discovered that the fuel tank is not pressurized after driving the car. I recently replaced the cap with a push-to-vent from ipd, so suspect I am not producing pressure or it's venting another way. any help would be appreciated.

The pressure or lack there of in the fuel tank won't affect how the car runs. Have you tuned up the car since you got it ? Is the fuel pressure regulator any good ?

new cap, rotor, wires and plugs, inspected harness, air supply and vacuum lines. new air filter. has what appears to be a very recent fuel filter.
in my experience with vintage Mercedes bosch systems the fuel tank always had that "woosh" release of pressure when removing the filler cap. I suspect its there due to the return line delivering pressurized fuel to the tank.

my running issue is just a little jerkiness in gear at low speeds, especially when releasing the throttle.

thanks for your reply and any other help I can get here.

You might need to check the adjustment of the throttle switch. It may be clicking off too late after you start to open the throttle plate. All you should need is an allen wrench to adjust it. Losten the two bolts and move the whole switch to the position where; as you start to rotate the throttle, the instant it moves you should hear the switch click, and also un-click just before bottoming out to the idle position of the throttle.

Also, read up on the cleaning the flame trap and also consider replacing O2 sensor if it looks dirty, or at least verify it is operating correctly.

while looking for the flame trap, I came across an engine sensor that had a wire disconnected (probably as a result of my changing the heater hoses), hooked it back up and it's running the way it should. thanks!
