122S steering box 120-130 1970

I have a 1970 122S. Need a steering box and no parts availble ! Have found an early box from 66 car in excellent condition. Can the shaft couplings be transfered to early box. Mine has later Amazon collapsible shaft and steering wheel lock ign.

    122S steering box 120-130 1970

I have a spare older box for my68 220....i kept it because it looked like I would be able to use my 68 collapsible steering shaft with it. dont have time to check it now.....boxes are the same a little fiddling probably.....wouldnt really know till you had it apart on the bench....

    Not without major modifications.

      Will a 140 box work?

The 140 steering boxes have 4 mounting holes, while the 122 has 3 mounting holes.

Besides the shafts don't match up and modifications would need to be made to connect to the upper half.

          Thanks everyone, for input.
I bought the 66 box. It was too good to pass up, both price wise and condition.
Yes, I have realised it will not really be an easy straight forward fit, due bend in both lower and upper shafts for collapsible section. But, will pull them both apart and see what will and won't match up.. . or what parts can be successfully used for my 1970 box from 66 one.
Another project to keep the car on the road !! Maybe a reason to rersearch what other type of box might fit. Like an aftermarket rack and pinion made for hot-rods !! Any one ever tried such a thing on an Amazon ?
