Repair Shops in Alexandria, VA. near Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital. Need assistance please. 200 1991

Hello all: Does anyone now a good Volvo repair shop in Alexandria, VA

I have a 1991 Volvo 240. It appears the wiper motor is shot and needs replacement, the wipers are stuck, so it may be linkage or the motor.

My car is located near Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital, in Alexandria, VA which is near Hwy, 1 (Richmond Hwy) and Sherwood Hall Lane (Hwy 626). It's about 2 miles or so west of the Potomac River.

Has anyone had any experience with the Pep-Boys at 7812 Richmond Hwy (near the Mt. Vernon Plaza Shopping Center) or Steve's Auto Clinic at 7419 Richmond Hwy. (near Beyer Subaru and Beyer Volvo).

Any other recommendations or assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks ... Mr. Tool

Your problem might be that one or both of the magnets need to be glued back onto the case.

Sorry, I cannot answer the question you asked, even if you asked it about my own locale. So many of us are do-it-yourselfers or hobbyists; DIY fitting the economy driving 20+ year-old cars offers.

If you decide to look into it yourself, here is one reference supporting what scorron suggested where you divide the problem between the wiper drive train and its "engine" by disconnecting at the shaft of the motor.

I live in Lorton, work in Annandale, and I wish I could help more, but I am currently fighting an epic battle for my immune system.

If your wipers are actually immobile, I would imagine the motor is seized; I can't imagine the linkage being so screwed up as to freeze the wipers in spot. If that is the case, you could remove the glove box, take the screw out of the wiper motor spindle, and lift off the linkage connector (.I'm doing this from memory, so a bit vague). You should then be able to manually lower the wipers. I have a spare motor floating around somewhere, if your motor is bad. When I am not in danger of falling over from fever, (like this weekend), I'd be happy to dig it out and sell it to you cheap.

Let me know on here, or if the Brickboard email is working at the moment, shoot me an email.

No experience with the shops, but I wouldn't trust Pepboys to wipe my windshield.

Thanks all for your input. I now do suspect that the motor may be seized because the #2 fuse (16 Amp) is blown. This fuse is for the Horn and wiper motor. I put a new fuse in. The horn now works, but still no wipers.

I'm in Maryland. If you don't mind driving there's a great shop Goss's Garage in Seabrook. I'd offer to help you out but my weekend is booked solid.
