So, first thing in the morning when it is very cold and it snowed over the night, I turn on my car and there is snow coming out of the defroster and heater vents..what is up?

I have had that happen with fine snow. It gets sucked in through the fresh air intake in the cowl. You could turn recirc air on until car warms up.
