Fuel pp for side drafts

Guys
Anyone have a preference to fuel pumps when using side draft carbs(DCOE, Dellororettos, Solex ADDHE)?
I'm at that position to decide which way to go.
I have a Volvo competition mechanical pump as listed in the R Sport catalogue. Or I use my electric carter rotary pump that I bought new.
I understand the carter Doesn't need a regulator.. I'm not sure about the volvo one, although one isn't listed with the RSport kit (I believe side drafts are sensitive to fuel pressure)
Also if the recommendation is the Carter where would you locate it, next to the tank ( flooded suction) or in the engine bay?
Obviously engine bay is easier as I don't need to run wires aft, mount in a non exposed position as well as an easier position for maintenance.
Where was the E pump located, does anyone have pics of that location?
Welcome your thoughts and suggestions
Russ

Thanks Eric
Think I will rig up the carter and see what I get.
It's my preferred pump as most advice on the web is to go with this pump.
If I get issues will revisit the mechanical.
Just nerd to decide wether to fit in the engine bay or at the tank

From what I know of electric pumps--the closer to the fuel supply the better. I've been out all day and will be able to take a photo of the shelf tomorrow. -- Dave

Whatever fuel pump you use, make sure it does not exceed 4 psi. Holley makes the only inexpensive quality fuel pressure regulator that I know.

If you are interested, I have NOS (New Old Stock) R-sport fuel pumps in stock.

Thanks guys for the replies.
Interested in a pic of the fuel pump shelf. Could you take a pic and send to r-tidnury@portav.com.
With respect to fuel pressure I am aware of this. My understanding is the Carter kicks out 4psi and doesn't need a regulator. In fact it's advised against specifically with side drafts.
Fitting a mechanical pump would be preferred(I do have one on my shelf-thanks for the offer) but not sure if it needs a regulator.
I was hoping someone with side drafts and the RSport pump could tell me if they have a regulator fitted.

If in doubt, measure the fuel pressure.

Some of the cheaper mechanical fuel pumps will put out more than 4 psi. I have measured as high as 7 psi. For those pumps, we install a Holly regulator.

I recently installed a fuel pump being sold by PPS, ScanTechs successor, for the 1st time.

I did so reluctantly as I have been leery of what is being sold, so I took the time to do a dead head fuel pressure test and was pleasantly surprised to get a steady 4 psi.

I can't answer your question regarding which pump to use -- but I do have an original pump "shelf" from a '75 245 (same as 140E shelf) laying around. It mounted next to the tank and provides protection from in front and under the pump. -- Dave
