Good quality 5.5 stock-appearing Amazon steel wheel source? 120-130

Hi All,

I am looking for a good quality source for new (or original KPZ) 5.5 wheels for my Amazon.

I have heard there are some repops out now made in China that do NOT fit the hub cap well (or at all).

Anyone know a good source for quality 5.5s that accommodate the original hub cap?

VP has some, but not sure of quality.

Any ideas?

Thanks, All

VP is the only original source for those wheels as they are the ones having them made. I have sold and installed almost half a dozen sets so far and only 1 of the wheels had a problem with holding a hub cap. A little grinding with a file fixes the problem. We also used a little paint to prevent rust.

Currently the 5.5" wheels are on sale for $500.00 for a set of 4. Included are hub caps with black "V" stickers, closed end lug nuts and SHIPPING!

The hub caps are the same type as you get with aluminum wheels where the hub cap only covers the grease caps for the front and the axle nuts in the rear and that is why a set of closed end lug nuts are included as the provided hubcaps don't cover the lug nuts.

FYI,I just ordered another set for one of my customers last week.

You can order directly from VP or you can order from me and the cost will be the same.

Thanks, Eric,

Do you have these in stock in SoCal? How fast to get a set up to SF?

So, looks like VP offers more than one route:

1. Just wheels: http://212.247.61.152/us/main.aspx?page=article&artno=613014

2. Wheels and Cooper tires mounted: http://212.247.61.152/us/main.aspx?page=article&artno=276195

A few more questions:

So are these the same wheels in both SKUs?
Are they painted / powder coated in a near-to-original-color and finish?
How do folks like Cooper tires?
If you had 5.5s, and wanted a good balance of performance and comfort for a daily driver (not for racing), what other tires might you consider in a 195 / 65 /15?

Thanks again,

Nat

I don't have them in stock. It takes at least a week to ship to SF.

The wheels are painted in what I have always called "steel wheel paint" like the originals. Volvo used to sell spray cans of wheel paint an it was labeled "Steel wheel".

I can not attest to the performance and ride quality of the Coopers that VP sells, but I have not had good experiences with Coopers in the past.

I have been recommending and selling Kumho Ecsta LX Platinums lately. My customers have been reporting good handling in both wet and dry conditions, low road noise and so far good tread life. We have not seen any premature wear that was due to poor manufacturing.

There are cheaper tires including some Kumhos, but even though most of the old Volvos don't need a "V" rated tire, I have found the higher rated tires are being built with better materials and worth the extra 5-10 bucks. And currently the Platinums are selling for $74.00 a tire plus shipping.

Yes, that is where I am buying them now. I became a Tirerack dealer because Americas tire/Discount tire stopped selling them.

I can also sell you those tires at the same cost as listed on the Tirerack website.
