door handle tips, metal link, S90 S90-V90

After much foul language, I found an easier way to re-connect the outside door handle assembly on my S90 to the actuator rod inside the door. The OEM white plastic link had broken.

This procedure will also result in your having a METAL link instead of plastic.

1 - Order a replacement handle assy for a 740-940 made by Kool-Vue for around $22. They use a cast metal link.
2 - Remove the pin which holds the link and keep both for the repair

3 - Take the "guts" out of your existing door handle by removing the screw marked in red on the photo here. You can NOT do this on a 740-940 handle
4 - Carefully remove the pin marked in red which holds the trigger assy in the guts. There is a spring held in by the pin, note which way it sits in the trigger.

5 - Fit the new Kool-Vue link onto the original trigger assy using the new pin
6 - Hook the repaired trigger assy onto the actuating rod inside the door
7 - Fit the trigger assy into the guts, with the spring and pin
8 - Fit the guts into the original door handle casing; run the screw down tight. (I put the Torx screwdriver through the bolt hole in the edge of the door to get a straighter shot at the screw)
9 - Attach the handle assy to the door

Don't forget the weather seals for the door handle
