New FAQ On the Way

Randy Starkie finally sent a polite note, very kindly, suggestion that I publish the new FAQ with all the contributions to date as well as Dan Heinzkill's new, easier to use index. I finally made the time to do this. I'll be uploading it to Brickboard, VCOA and UK Club during the next week. You should see the new, improved, easier to navigate FAQ by next weekend.

Thanks to all who contributed an enormous collection of intellectual capital about the 700/900/90 series cars.

New FAQ On the Way

Would it be possible to get back the search function that just searches the FAQ? The Search FAQ box now only searches the messages.

I'll send a note to Jarrod to that end. He runs Brickboard.

New FAQ On the Way

Yes, thank you Steve for all the great work! As a 240 owner for 11 years the 700/900 FAQ was a great resource to me too.

I do have one request though and I'm sure other FWD owners concur. Can we leave out the section where someone trashes all 850's/S70's/V70's just because he had a lemon? Some of what is stated there is blatantly untrue. Doing so is unfair to 850 and S/V70 owners and their car's value. Look, they are not RWD cars. They are a different beast and are well built FWD cars (at least the early ones through MY 2000). I personally know of 240/740/940's that were lemons too. It is common knowledge that the 95-97 850's and 98 S/V70's are some of the best cars Volvo ever built. As a point of fact, my 95 855 has been more dependable, less problematic, cheaper to maintain and way more fun to drive than my 90 244. And the 244 was a very good car indeed!

Thanks Steve!

I really do appreciate all the extra work you put into the 700/900 FAQ.

Off topic:
Did the Red Sox surprise you this year as much as they surprised me? Did not expect a championship. I remember that you are a Red Sox fan...:)

New FAQ On the Way

Dear Uncle Steve,

Thank you for this great work.

Any chance this new 700/900 FAQ could be published to a PDF also, and a link to it on the revised 700/900 FAQ on the new (revised) index page for each FAQ instantiation?

I have a file of a prior Volvo 700/900 FAQ PDF. File name of VolvoSite_FAQSummary1.pdf. (http://www.nuceng.ca/workspace/Volvo%20FAQ%20Site/FAQSummary1.html (1 of 4)11/02/2007 7:44:49 PM)

Bill Garland posts the file on his site www.nuceng.ca/bill/. URN specifically to the PDF file is http://www.nuceng.ca/bill/volvo/VolvoSite_FAQSummary1.pdf.

Simply an idea-r.

Thank you kindly.

MacDuff.

PDF's Now Incorporated

Good idea and I was able, prior to shipping it out, to save all the files in pdf form and include a link at each FAQ file to the pdf version.

Nice idea. I'll give it some thought as to how best to accomplish this.
