New trans mount makes a HUGE difference! 900 1993

I finally got around to replacing my transmission mount last weekend. I was getting a ton of exhaust noise, vibrations, and transmission gear sounds from under the shifter.

What a difference! Not only is the car incredibly quiet now, but it handles, corners, and rides much better. This is something I hadn't really thought about, but makes complete sense: the old mount was so far gone that the transmission was directly contacting the crossmember, and must have been slopping from side to side and bouncing up and down quite a bit with the car. The ride was so rough, I was sure I needed new shocks and struts - but not anymore!

The rubber of the new mount was so thick by comparison that I had to get another jack under the crossmember while re-installing just so I could start the bolts in their holes. There seems to be an awful lot of compression going through that little rubber piece, and judging by these vast improvements I've experienced I would definitely classify this as a routine maintenance item. And the part being just $20 is also a bonus!

Two things...make sure they sent you the right tranny mount. More than one online company lists an incorrect mount for the 1993+ 940's. Second, if you bought after market, check it every oil change. To say the quality of the rubber is all over the board is an understatement.

Related but not in the same thread, check both motor mount but especially the passenger side. If the tranny mount was that far gone, likely the passenger mount is toast now as well. On top of the fact that I tend to replace it twice for every tranny mount in normal operation it has been taking abnormal twisting stresses for a while from the failed third mount.
