Random hard start on 1992 245 200

Hello guys
Have not been here in a loooong time but I need your experienced help now :)
My 245 is acting up and I can't figure out why
I would turn the key... cranck cranck cranck... nothing... cranck cranck cranck... nothing
Sometimes it would take up to 10 minutes some other times 1 or 2 minutes but I would eventualy start

Last time it happened I took it to the garage, mechanic said he tried the car the whole day and would always fire up right away
Got it back the same evening, get home and when I want to go out again... bam! no start
Bring it back the following day: changed the main pump problem seemed solved

Forward 3 weeks later and the issue came back
Last night I had just filled up at Costco... cranck cranck cranck... nothing!
about 2 minutes later it finally came to life....
Did my groceries and when I got out it started right away

It sems to be fuel related as the starter turns
Could it be as stoopid as having two bad pumps in a row?
I have to say I do not hear the usul buzz when I turn the ignition to on when the pump usually is supposed to come to life and start feeding the system

But it could be anything else of course being a 21 year old car
Any suggestions are appreciated
It's an automatic
Thx

could it be a bad fuel pump check valve allowing the pressure to drop randomly?
    ?????

have someone wiggle the crank sensor wire when the car won't start.
once its running wiggle the wire yourself to see if it stalls

you may have a failing connection in the wire to the magnet of that sensor.

also verify visually that the sensor wire is not bent under the kickdown cable before it rises up the back of the head.

Helo al and thank for the replies
Had a busy week week end
I though it could have been my fuel pump rely but I can hear it click when I turn the key to on
I cannot hear the pump at all though
Aren't we supposed to hear the pump "prime" just before crancking up?
Weird thing is I just changed it

Also the issue did not happen again since last friday, car always started right away...
I am quite puzzled by this...

Thanks again for all the suggestions

My 245 recently began being hard to start. It seems hard to start when the fuel level is low in the gas tank.

I have resoldered the fuel injector relay.
Within the past 2 years I have replaced the crank position sensor and the in tank fuel pump.

I'll take a look at the fuses and do the jumper trick to verify both fuel pumps work.

Hopefully it is something simple like:

Dirty corroded fuses 4 and 6.

    Fuel system relay.

    Crank position sensor.

    Power stage/ ignition amplifier.

Do you have spark and fuel when it does not start?

    Dan
