I have a 1989 740 turbo. And she's been having some problems. Under heavy acceleration it cuts in and out like its not providing enough gas but the thing is its using waaaay too much gas I spent 100 dollars in gas in one day! I've just started to take her apart and I've discovered oil in the intake piping going from the intercooler to the throttle body. This is my first time working on a Volvo and I have no idea!

Also there's an oil leak that is quite bad when its running but turned off it only drips a little bit once I get my tools I'll be taking out the turbo and degreasing the engine and find where that's coming from

First do the easy stuff: check the FAQ for diagnostic tips. Take a look at your turbo hoses for splits and cracks that can enrich the mixture.
