plug wires - what a difference 10 years makes 700 1992

Having a heck of a time find the right plug wires... after having some performance issues I looked thru the records and realized it has been 10 years and 70k miles since I changed them on this car and I don't remember it being such a challenge back then. I defintely have Bosch ignition according the faq (coil on firewall and AMM on air cleaner). And I definitely have the small connectors on the dis cap end (ie not the same size as the ends on the plug side) and I keep getting the wrong wires on-line. Can anybody recommend someplace I can the right ones? The other problem is that this is a detail that is very hard to see in the on-line pictures so I try to get a human at the various places but they "don't have the parts right here" to look them. Even called the dealer and they told me they only have one p/n for 92 740 wires and "never heard of" the smaller connectors on the dis side. What am I doing wrong?

A couple of the parts sites I looked at. Plug wires for Bosch fit 85-92 740s all the same part number. The distributor end is not the same size as the plug ends. I'm not sure what you mean by being smaller, length, inside diameter of cap end, etc? Any pictures of your cap and more specific why the wires won't fit?
Is your cap Bosch or aftermarket?

Thanks - I think I got it figured out thanks to a better picture on fcp's site. If you look at eeuroparts.com listings for wires you'll see 2 different p/n's - and one of the pictures looks to me like on the distributer end it has the big connectors like say on a 240 (or most cars to be honest). What I have are smallish male connectors on top of the distributor - kind of the size of the threaded end of a spark plug after you unthread the conical cover they come with. A couple of sites had 2 or more p/n's (rockauto was another) with pictures so bad you couldn't tell what style ends they had. While fcp still had 2 listings for the wires, they both looked to have the connectors for smaller mail ends so I ordered some of those - fingers crossed. Thanks for the reply

Let us know your fix! plug wires - what a difference 10 years makes 700 1992

Seems like a quirky issue, non-standard wires. Future users would like part numbers.
