my dilemma is a problema 120-130

It could be a lot worse, I suppose. An aquaintance came by and asked if I'd like to sell
one of the M41s I have parked in my basement. One is a J from a 140 and the other a D from an 1800. I had intended to use one in my 67 wagon and just keep the other as a spare. I'm not sure I want tp part with either of them but I have a lot of stuff and am intending to sell the house next year and will have to cope with what to do with everything. I have also been watching a few new episodes of Hoarders, I'm not that bad but I don't like to give things up without a fight, and that always gets me to thinking about paring down my stash. The cash is always an incentive of course.

So for now the question is, all other things being equal, which tranny would you keep in this situation? D vs J pros cons? Would you sell the spare (I also have a 62 with a D in it already, so that is a consideration-parts etc).

I'm not in a hurry, act in haste repent at leisure. So what do you all think?

Don't sell either one. You will regret it.

The gearbox is how big ? How much are you going to get for it ? Is it worth it ?

"J" O/D's are stronger, but since you already are using a "D", I would keep the "D" if push came to shove.

I have the same sort of "problema" so I can commiserate. For myself, I'd prefer the J type as it is very easy to rebuild. I understand the D type takes some specialized equipment for testing before installation. In your case it makes more sense to keep the D type. Besides, having the longer OD ratio of the D is no bad thing. -- Dave

      Hello All,

I've been told by Triumph folks the J us stronger, more reliable, easier to rebuild. It is highly sought after. I myself would be happy with whichever fell into my lap.

      Good luck!
