88 780 Bertone. Keep the b280 or swap in a b230? 700

Hi all,
I've got an 88 780 (black on black) that is in pretty good shape body wise and interior wise. However the engine bay is another story.

The b280 engine that is currently in it is strong and runs well (or will run well once I replace the starter), but the wiring harness is trash and the exhaust Y-pipe is rusted and needs replacement. I can find a replacement Y-pipe and likely can find a wiring harness, but that's going to be hundreds of dollars by the time it's all done.

Because the b280 isn't "universally loved", the resale value for the car is not very high, and adding more money into that engine configuration won't increase it very much. And yes, I could part the car out and likely make more money that way, but it just seems so wrong to kill a running 780.

I have been offered a b230 engine that is in great shape at a price I can't refuse. Has anyone out there converted a b280 Bertone to a b230 or b230ft configuration? I know the car came with either engine configuration from the factory, but are there any "gotchas" that I'll run into if I try to put the new engine in (and yes, I know that I'll need all the electrics that go with the b230)?

The later B280F is a nice smooth engine for road crusing. As with everything, even grampa's old 50's-60's Oldsmobile, if you did not keep clean oil in it, the cam galleys plugged. The B280F reputation is for about 260K or over a quarter million, then the timing chains -not belts- need replacement to keep going on. Clean oil, clean filters, clean driving in a beautiful ride. The rumor is that in the EU lands, they put twin turbos on that V-6 and got 400 ponies out of it. After that Ford bought Volvo...
Contrasted with engine /cabin harness and transmission bell housing swaps and different ECU, and different placements in the engine compartment, drive until it doesn't go, then decide hot rod or stock..

Repairing the B280's accessories is far easier than replacing the engine. The B280 has a bunch of upgrades over the earlier and truly crappy B27 and B28. So sticking with it is not so bad.
Fix what you have. If the B280 coughs up a rod or something in the future drop a Chevy LS engine in there and be real happy. That's a swap worth doing.

Pretty sure clogged oil passages leading to excessive cam wear was the reason that engine has a bad reputation. I would pull the valve covers and check the cam/oil passages. If all looks good run it.
