Weird squealing noise at speed from dashboard 200 1992

Gents, my 1992 240 sedan has developed a weird problem. At 3,000 rpm and above and around 70+ mph, a squeal comes from behind the dash from what seems like the center vent area. at 2,500 rpm or 65 mph and below no noise. In an attempt to chase down the noise I have done the follow to no avail:

removed the instrument cluster and driven at 70+mph-
The blower and resistor are new, but fan speed doesn't affect the squeal

pushed all the vents at speed to see if the noise would change, observed the defrost and face to foot vents working. working with the cluster out
disconnected the vacuum line from the intake to firewall

bypassed the overdrive relay thinking the relay was weak and squealing

This is really driving me crazy (luckily that is a quick trip :-) )

Any advice? what have I missed? thanks !

The vacuum accumulators and their lines which operate the defrost and heat diverter doors will get leaks and sound like a squeal or low whistle. They are located right behind the heater controls.

Weird squealing noise at speed from dashboard-solved 200 1992

Weird noise- weird solution. It turns out the grommet for the passenger side windshield wiper had worked its way around so that it turned the cowl into a 'reed' of sorts. I turned it around pushed it back in place and no noise at all

    Mouse stuck in the vent?

My '90 240 has a annoying squeaking sound from under the dash that is related to vibration. After a year I think I narrowed it down to linkage in the windshield wipers. The way I diagnosed it was when I heard the squeaking, I turned on the wipers and the squeaking stopped - only to come back again 20 seconds after I turned them off.

I have a blower motor to replace and I plan on lubricating the joints of the wipers when I got the dash apart.

Other potential culprit could be a vacum leak? There is a vacum reservoir under the center console that drives the heater vent flaps. While squealing occurs, try the defrost or other vent flap buttons to see if it affects the squealing.
