M47 to Drive shaft connection 200

Ok, me again. I just want it to stop!

Any ways, enough of me whining.

In my haste to remove the drive shaft from the donor car I failed to notice how it attaches to the M47 transmission.

Can anyone tell me or snap a picture of it, or point me to where one already exists so that I can physically see it?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I truly hope you have it correct now because if not then you will start experiencing a shutter on take off and then over a small amount of time increase to what I call clutch chatter big time. Ask me how I know. No wait don't, it is too embarrasing. So if you get a chatter recheck the sequence of the bolt installation.

Maxspeed,

I fixed it yesterday. Yes, it was truly wrong, but is now correct. Hoped to have the entire swap done by this weekend. Should be a sweet ride once done.

I think you need the 1220843 U-Joint.

Check THIS PAGE for details.

Click "Full Size Image" and note the list of parts referenced.

You probably need a different driveshaft, if yours has the more common front u-joint.

Bruce,

Both replies have been helpful but I'm still missing what I'm really looking for.

Does the shaft from the transmission go through the rubber dampener and connect directly to the shaft connector or does it just connect to the rubber dampener.

Thanks,

Matt

Remember, this is a universal joint. The trans output shaft is connected to three points on the rubber flex disc (what you call the damper). The other three points on the flex disc connect to the drive shaft.

Art mentions the bolt direction. The correct orientation is shown a bit more clearly in Bruce's illustration. Make sure you have parts 17 & 21 in that diagram.

I don't recall if there's is a front and back to the disc but if there is it should be marked.

Hi Matt,

I hope this illustration is useful to help with knowing which direction the bolts get inserted, which seems to be the usual question on this. Sorry, I don't have an M47 to photograph.
