Automatic trans slow to engage reverse 200 1993

I have just noticed that my automatic trans is slow to engage reverse. All the other gears are fine when you put it in reverse it takes a second or two to engage reverse. Some times it works as normal.

Check your shifter bushings to make sure they are not gone and the rod sloppy. Volvo has two different grades of bushing clear and grey. The grey are much more durable and cost twice as much, but worth the extra effort to install. Pauli

Make sure the fluid level is OK. If the fluid is old and looks dark red / brown, consider a full flush as described in the FAQ's.

Did you drop the pan on the transmisson and clean the strainer?

A lot of people will tell you that it's a waste of time, but I always do it, and have saved more than one transmission that had a clogged screen.

If that screen is clogged, and you're performing a fluid flush without cleaning it, you're just spinning your wheels.

        just my opinion
