Regina fpr swap not working out 700

So after a no start in a 1990 740 regina and swapping in a fuel pressure regulator from a bosch, the car started right up. I thought I was out of the woods, but the car runs like crap. Not safe to drive, poor acceleration and very uneven. Problem is I can't locate a regina fpr anywhere. I'm now trying junkyards, but they usually don't know what I'm talking about when trying to explain difference between regina and bosch. Any help appreciated.

Ray i did a write up and test on this issue for the FAQ and its in there somewhere, my 91 Regina is currently running the 3.0 Bar Bosch FPR so i assure you it works, i tow a boat with this car. The Bosch FPR does say the part number AND 3.0 Bar stamped on it as other have said, should be able to see either the part number or 3.0 Bar with it installed. it you have the 2.5 she will start but run real real crappy.

Thanks, got back from some time away and decided to change the fuel filter. Pretty sure that the fuel filter in the car was the original. what do you know, the car is running well. I definitely had a no start situation and putting in a new fpr allowed it to start, but after changing the fuel filter it is running like it should. I'm not sure which fpr is in there. It is the same one that you would order for a 1993 volvo 240. The fuel filter that I removed was very difficult to blow through.

You need the 3.0 bar FPR, but as Lucid points out they are the same. My Regina actually came with a bosch FPR. Low fuel pressure 2.5 bar most likely won't prevent car from starting so you gots another issue or never really corrected the first issue. Need to check fuel pressure at the schrader valve, you need 35 psi at idle, 45 with vac line disconnected. Pressure should increase from 35 while blipping the throttle. If fuel supply is good, time to start checking other stuff.

Make sure the fat O-ring isn't leaking at the rail fitting.

What is the history on the swapped-in Bosch FPR? Both FPRs (Regina and Bosch) regulate the pressure to the same identical fuel pressure specs, so there's no reason the swap doesn't work, as has been reported here in the past.

The only difference is the manufacturer. Regina chose VDO (I think) since they could hardly us a competitor's product. Same thing with the Idle Air Controllers.

Maybe there's a new problem that just happens to be coincidental?

The bosch fpr in there now is new. As you say maybe there is a new problem that's coincidental - like what? Thanks.

"The bosch fpr in there now is new."

It might be the 2.5 BAR pressure one for LH 2.2, pn 3517063/Bosch# 0-280-160-292.

The 3.0 BAR one that matches the Regina FI is pn 3517064/Bosch# 0-280-160-294.

The Bosch FPR will have the Bosch # stamped on it.

I had thought the 2.5 was for Regina; it's actually for lh2.2? I did not know that.
