Stuck oil filter. 900

Any ideas on how to remove a stuck oil filter. It's starting to crease and I can not seem to get good leverage with a filter wrench. Any ideas? Should I get a better wrench?

I have used a strap wrench for these situations, you will crush the filter, especially if its a cheap one, but it will come off with the strap type wrench.

    Hello,

I would recommend the IPD oil filter grabber wrench (part no. 110219) for use. It never fail me so far.

    Hope this helps.

Do a search on oil filter tools or something like that.

    See - http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/441200/oil_filter_removal_tool_preference.html

A few months ago there was a discussion of oil filter tools - most of us have 5 or 6 - I think the most was nine.

    See - http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/1559970/220/240/260/280/expand_oil_filter_wrench_collection.html

End cap wrenches, band wrenches, oil filter pliers, a large screwdriver and a hammer to drive it through the filter, etc.

If you change enough filters, you will end up with a collection!

BTW - I only have 5 or so

Probably was overtightened. Dremel in a notch on rear of it toward top(noon). This is strongest part of filter as it is back side and thickest metal. Then take a long flat head screwdriver positioned so flat is in notch. Hammer at it counter clockwise. Hopefully this should work. Has for me. Good luck.
