strut tower removal- brake lines

I'd like to remove my towers to deal w/ some rust before re-installing- any suggestions where the best place to disconnect the brake lines it? Frankly I'm intimidated by all of those old lines.

strut tower removal- brake lines

IF... we're talking about a 240 or other Volvo which has 2 brake lines on each front strut assembly... which is sort of intimidating... I have in the past simply cut the bracket very carefully at each loop the brake hoses pass through.

Use a thin "wafer" wheel on an angle grinder. Bend a bit of the bracket up, a bit down, and pull the metal line out, leaving everything connected. Disconnect the caliper and "unwrap" the lines from around the strut bottom.

Be patient, have extra hands for help. If you damage a line or hose, you must replace it for your own safety. But with care it is possible to remove the struts and not open brake hydraulics.

Good luck!

Is it possible you are using the wrong term? The strut tower is structural element into which the very top of the strut is seated. Looking in the engine bay, the two items above the wheels that have the strut insert top nut, a visible portion of the strut bearing rubber surround and two or three small studs with nuts on them...those are the trut towers. these are not usually removeable with extreme methods and they have nothing to do with brake lines that I know of.

On what make and model automobile are the strut towers less intimidating to safely remove and replace than hydraulic brake lines? :)

(you might want to post in that forum)
