After a day of polishing flat, red, lacquer paint... 200

She looks good enough for parade duty.

The primary downside of my 245 is knowing that there's no clear coat, so the paint will get dull if I don't keep after it with washing/waxing. It's a bit like a bonzai tree in that it needs a lot of human interaction to look its best.

Now that it is polished, I would seal it with Zaino or Klasse. Will last longer than wax and protect better too. You will need to polish much less often. I've been using Zaino on my old cars for 3 years now and it is great stuff. They have formulas for clearcoat and single stage. You can google and find the stuff is legit. Several good YouTube videos on the products too.

+1. Not necessarily with those products although good. There's a lot of hype about detailing but if you're happy with how it is now a good wax and sealer combo will keep even the notoriously bad red colour from going dusky pink again.
Looks good, but if you did all that by hand, a machine polish by someone who is careful and knows what they are doing, is a better base for waxing. Have just done my white 92 wagon by hand and that was hard work, made worse by it being very difficult to see how things are improving. It did go from matt to gloss so that was worthwhile!

The primary Upside of your 245 is knowing that there's NO clear coat!

I have 3 cars with bad clearcoat; it's nearly a disaster and dramatically affects value.

Looks great and its well worth the effort. Both of mine are done twice a year. Clear coated cars look like crap after 10 yrs as it breaks down and falls off

The new stuff holds up much better than the "old clear coats". Also like the OP said if you keep polishing it you will eventually remove all of the paint.

Its normal for some color to come off use a red rag next time. 7 layers of paint on that brick. You will never get close to the primer. Clear coating is time bomb waiting to come off.

Nice looking car. Why not ask a good body about laying down a couple of coats good clear on it. Info is free.

Probably not a bad idea at all. Every time I wax it I turn my towels red, so it's removing paint and oxidation every single time. Eventually I'll end up finding out what the primer looks like haha.
