Oil Pressure Sender Bullet Connector Question 200

Hi All. Problem with my 1987 245. The wire to the oil pressure sender broke right at the end of the connector. Looks like it had been replaced before and the wire bend radius was a bit too tight. Anyone know the correct bullet connector size for the oil pressure sender? Thanks in advance.

Oil Pressure Sender Bullet Connector Question 200 1981

Last time I did any rewiring, the wire crimp terminals and their housings were available from dealers.

It has changed ... 200

On my old '84, it was a standard 1/4 inch spade size that you could get in any store (Radio Shack, etc.).
On my '93s, it's a round (cylindrical) connector that I've never seen in any electronic parts store.

Your '87 fits in between -- I don't know when the change happened -- so you have to look at the connector (either what was on the wire, or the connector on the sender).

Hope it's the easy one for you.

I have had two 87 240's. They take the bullet style. One time it broke off like your situation and I just got a two way bullet, crimped the wire on one end and the bullet just snapped onto the sender. Pretty sure it was a blue 16/18 gauge size, but not 100% sure. Would not hurt to pick up a yellow 12/14 gauge bullet just in case.

Brilliant! Your'e right, a "butt' connector should work .... 200

Of course. Your suggestion reminded me of butt connectors. Brilliant. I don't why I didn't think of it -- I guess I'm not brilliant :-).

But seriously, you can buy a packet of electrical butt connectors -- these are made to attach two wires together (e.g., when one wire isn't long enough, you use a butt connectors to add another length of wire to the first). And they're made to be crimped separately at each end (that's how you attach the two wires to each other), so you crimp the free wire to one end of the butt connector and leave the other end of it alone so it will slip onto the rod-shaped terminal.
