George Downs, AKA Walrus has sadly lost his fight with his lung problems. The following post from the Yahoo 1800 list.
He will be missed. My condolences to all of his family and his friends everywhere.

Subject: Passing of George Downs
To:

My dad passed away this morning around 3:00 am. He was not in any pain and went peacefully. Plans will be made later on this morning and I will send those to you as they become available. He wanted to be cremated so there is no rush to have the funeral immediately.

If you would like to send my mom an email you can send it to sdowns@cableone.net .
Please feel free to pass this on to others who may be interested.

    "He will be remembered for his love affair with Volvos which started in 1966. He was known in US and international Volvo circles for his friendly and wise advice. He and his wife traveled to Goteborg, Sweden to see the Volvo home factory. Recently he was delighted to be a charter member of the Ozark Rollers, a new club in the Volvo Clubs of America."

      There have been some nice comments posted by people who knew George Downs. Would be nice if those sentiments were transferred to the guest book in memory of all his contributions.

    Very sorry to hear about this.

    I only met George once but I liked him.

    His presence on the Brickboard was invaluable.

      Walrus will be missed and not just for his Volvo advice. His passing will leave a hole that will never be patched in the Brickboard knowledge base.
