Up on stands, only rear right rotor rotating while in gear 200

Trying to find the source of vibration, I had the rear up on stands and revved through all gears. Leaving it in gear I got out and found the rear left rotor stationary and the right rotor rotating fast. (Wheels were off in case they are out of balance.)

Is that normal?

And vibration seems to occur in overdrive (M46).

It's a bad idea to do what you're doing by having the wheels off the ground and using the engine to spin the driveshaft and differential.....more so with the wheels removed.
It's akin to running a engine with the flywheel removed.

The drive shaft and differential are designed to transmit load (like moving a car) when spinning.
Spinning them without load could cause the driveshaft or differential to fail.
It has something to do with harmonics.

Opinions will vary but...it has happened.

    normal

you have an "open" rear not a limited slip.

If you want to check out any noise from the Drivers side you can put the tire back on the Passenger side. put the car in gear and let it idle slow. 1st gear if you have a manual.

Then get out of the car and CAREFULLY apply pressure to the Tire to stop it.. The Drivers side will start to rotate. While the tires are rotating do not stomp on the Brakes.. everything is done slow and cautious

Just be way cautious You don't want the car jumping off the Jackstands.

Accelerating hard and braking hard is very dangerous when the car is on the Stands. Getting the mass of the tires to turn and to stop, really pushes the car around when it's on the stands
