Thanks guys. It was that easy. Now as I take it in to get it repaired, (and this may seem like a crazy question, but can we drive the car while the who panel is out?

I also pulled a black cable out that sits on one of two prongs. Which prong should I attach it to the one on the drivers side or the one on the passengers side?

      Dear soldja8,

Hope you're well. I do not think so. The alternator receives a "kick-start" from an indicator lamp, at the bottom edge of the instrument cluster. With the cluster removed, the alternator won't start to charge. It would not be a good idea to start the car, and then remove the cluster, while the engine is running.

It would be better to remove the speedometer from the cluster, put the cluster back into its place, and then drive the car. A car can be driven with a malfunctionging/non-working speedomenter. I had to do that, as the speedo failed, while I was driving.

The best course would be to drive to the speedo repair place, pull the cluster once you get there, and have the speedo experts remove the speedo from the cluster. You can then put back into the dash, the cluster (minus the speedometer, which I presume cannot be fixed "while you wait").

It does not matter onto which of the two prongs, the small black connector is placed.

      Hope this helps.

      Yours faithfully,

      Spook

    very easily
first look/feel for two slots one each side of the black metal trim ring

    next

find two flat blade screw drivers suitable to enter the slots.
place them in each slot and you will feel a metal tab which you push outward while moving trim piece towards you in the drivers seat.

i have also found that you do just one side getting the trim piece loose and the other side although still attached comes off without trouble.

once out the screws are visible and the rest is self evident

I used a small flat blade to depress the spring tab in conjunction with a ground down paint can opener (hook) to pull forward on the bezel.

      easy!
