Tips for Removing Stuck Intake Manifold? 900

'93 940 Turbo Wagon. 212K miles.

My engine coolant temperature sensor is shot and the intake manifold gasket is original and suspected leaking.

I took everything apart and I cannot budge the intake manifold. I pulled and pried. I whacked it with a nylon-faced hammer used a block of wood and a whacked it some more.

This thing is fused on from over 20 years of heat.

Any ideas for getting this off?

Thanks,
Chris

Tips for Removing Stuck Intake Manifold? 900

There is a bolt just below the throttle body. I think you've missed it. Once it is removed, just bend the bracket (which also holds the Idle Air Motor) out of the way. Your intake manifold should come off easily.

      Problem solved--I missed a nut 900

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I knew very well that there were 8 nuts holding on the manifold. I counted what I removed and there were only 7! I looked again and missed taking off the nut hiding behind the wire harness coming up through the middle.

Once removed, it came off like butter.

Hopefully, I can get everything back together.

      Chris
