My 1990 740 will not blow cold air. It has no leaks and I've used a vacuum and gauges.I have evacuated the system, replaced accumulator and orifice, but when I charge the low side, it accepts the 134, the compressor runs, but it does not get cold at all. accumulator stays warm to the touch. Anyone?

The compressor clutch may be worn out. Try the "bread clip fix".

By "runs" I'm assuming you mean the clutch engages and spins but if it is worn out it won't be making contact inside to spin the compressor. The bread clip shims will push it in further and may solve the problem. I've had them on my 850 for over two years.

Would I be able to slip shims under the 3 round black objects?

How many cans of Freon did you put in? IIRC , for me it starts cooling during the second can charge.

could be a bad solder joint in the dash unit. This is well documented in the FAQ. what happens if you temporarily jumper the AC pressure switch closed?

check to see if you have 12v at the pressure switch.

If you mean the switch on the accumulator, I have jumpered that. I don't know what other switch you mean.

That issue in the controller started in 91; the older ones are different. But jumping the switch may tell him something.
