Hey Rick,
I think you need to eat a little crow here.
If you intend to keep that car, you are in one of the best places on earth that can help you do that.
But this aint the place where you can rub the bottle 3 times and expect the genie to appear. Somethings require work and give and take from all .
A little humility, at this point, may save the day.
Hat in hand, and a little grovling should work. I think.

Larue
Anytime I get a chance to say it, I do: Thank you brickboard.

Well, since you asked, any forum is about some common interest. This one has been a godsend to DIY Volvo owners for quite a while.

I think your real problem is that you just bought a car that is at least 20 years old, that is of unknown provenance, and didn't budget $1000 to get it roadworthy.

My guess is that the previous owner didn't sell it because it was perfect. You don't know what can be wrong with it nor why there could be fuel in the oil. You thought that you could ask a vague question and have someone pop up with the correct solution. When no one could, you were disappointed. And for some reason blamed your disappointment and lack of problem solving ability on us. That makes you seem more than a little entitled with no good reason.

Knowing this bunch, I'm guessing that you are in for a moderate flaming.

Greg

ps On a related note, It is possible that the breathalizer on your keyboard is busted.

Getting to the right answer can be frustrating, as the forum exists to find out what you do not know from others who may offer info and advice. Anything offered in good faith is not an attack. Sometimes others respond with what they do not know, in your case, to continue using a mechanically timed block with an electronically timed ignition system, the distributor was trapped by a plastic insert thus cannot be adjusted. Hey I understand the frustration as ignorant (look up the word if you do not know the proper definition) CA smog check people have run me around the circle on this more than once. After all, if you are on this forum, you know that it is impossible for nothing to go wrong including new parts being bad.

You have been registered for only two days and in only two days it is obvious you have worn out your welcome. I see Newbie Garrett116 is from the same Home Town, you are either the same person or maybe you twp should just hang out together.
You are marked.. you will get no help from me

I like others have been here a long time, and in that time I've only seen two comments like yours. So, I reviewed your posts, and all the posts in your threads.
Your statement here has no basis.

Sir, you have problems we can't fix.

Ditto.

I learned everything I know about Volvo's here. All the responses to the OP's two requests were on point and as helpful as possible given the depth of the information provided.

Hi Rick

I disagree. Our members helped me so much from the day one. My Volvo wouldn't be here without them. I have never met in person but I do have so much respect for them. I am really sorry that you feel that way. I LOVE my members as much I love my Volvo.

Hey BEOTCHE go find some other forum to insult people who offer you free assistance to problems you know nothing about. I for one will offer no more.
Dan

so what was wrong? If you just post over and over with no response to the questions asked how can we know enough to help you. did any of the advice given here help or not. Other folks here might like to know what fixed the problem in case they ever see something similar on their cars.
Bill D.
