Mystery >30 <60 minutes pump primes and click no start. 200 1993

Well:

Looking for advise on what to replace first and or test first. My Daughters 1993 well maintained 240 does this funny thing once every couple of weeks. After the car sits for more than 30 min and less than an hour all we get is a click and no start. It wont turn over. You can hear the pump prime everytime. If it sits for longer say 2 hrs or over nite everything is back to normal. Filling up at the gas station no problem starts right back up. So... Should I test the starter? and if so how to? Or, replace the ignition switch? I once had a 92 240 that had an engine speed sensor that was no good at hot starting but it still would turn over.

Not that I think it is related, but every time I see a no start condition on a '93 now, I have to ask if you have the fuse block on the positive battery cable, unique to the late-production '93 model year. The 60 amp ignition fuse therein is known to melt and char until intermittent contact occurs.

Hey Thanks for the photos. We do not have that block of fuses on this 93. Must be the earlier version. I did find a single fuse block that is a 40 amp with 2 red and 2 blue wires going into it mounted next to the negative terminal. Do you know what that one is responsible for?

I looked at the fuses and do not see a 60 amp ignition fuse. Biggest I see is the 25 amp heater fuse. So I am not looking in the right place? Can you please give me some more detail on location and what things should look like when wired correctly. This car does have an aftermarket i pod charging system?

scorron is talking about a fuse block mounted on the + terminal of the battery. Later 93 240's had this.
