no start no spark 200

hi

I've been having intermittent start problems now for the last 2 years.
which has led me to replace many parts

plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap and rottor, ignition coil, and 25 amp fuse and holder.

i've cleaned the negative contacts from the battery to the car body

not sure why it wont start and why there is still no spark. No spark off the main wire that comes from the top of the coil either

I've red about the hall sensor a little bit. are these hard to test ? or to change ?
would a faulty hall sensor lead to no spark off the top of the coil ?

any suggestions ?

fuel pressure?
power to injectors?

if not, i was thinking fuel pump relay...
if you do, then I'd agree with Onkel

ok i just read that 1989, volvo's don't have a hall effect sensor, they switch to a crank position sensor on the flywheel.

so not sure what to look at now.
any ideas ?

The CPS is the likely candidate but so is the power stage.

The CPS usually fails at the insulation on top. You try wiggling int next time it no starts or shining a light down there to look at it, but in the end, it is about a $100 part that probably should be replaced every 10 years or so.

The Power stage needs to have its thermal paste check about every 5-10 years most never get checked...they just fail do to overheating because the paste was never checked. It is behind the batter in North American cars.
